Dilip
Sivaraman is an Independent Clockmaker from Bangalore, India. The
clocks we make are mechanical Pendulum Clocks. The movements are
designed and manufactured
in-house. We combine the 400 year cumulative horological wisdom with
technology and materials that are currently available to make our
clocks. Clocks we make are Heirloom quality that could be handed down
through generations.
Clocks by Dilip Sivaraman are made to order. We currently make two
types of clocks, Gato & Lisko. Gato is a skeletal floorstander that
would conventionally be considered a Grandfather Clock. Lisko is a wall
clock. A third clock will be announced by the end
of 2018.This would be a precision regulator clock with a gravity
escapement.

Gato
is un-conventional in its engineering, Design & Aesthetics. It has
a skeletal ‘Time Only’ movement. The design is a contemporary take on the
traditional Grandfather Clock. It
has an all mechanical ‘in house’ movement that was designed and hand
made by Dilip Sivaraman. Gato is meant to last decades. Ease of
maintenance has been a huge priority in its design. The
contemporary Wood & Glass case has been designed by Namrata &
Pranab.
What is markedly different about ‘Gato’ is the dial (or the absence of
it). It has a Planetary Gear Motionwork in which the dial acts like a
stationary ring gear. It also has an un-usual maintaining
power mechanism
made of planetary gears. This keeps the
|
clock ticking while
being wound. The pendulum Rod is made on Invar. This keeps the clock
precise despite changes in temperature. The Case measures 1.9m x 0.3m x
0.6m. It has a 8 day winding power reserve. The compensated
pendulum bob is
3Kgs & is stainless steel. The pendulum rod is Invar.
The movement
is mostly made of Stainless Steel. It has a 60 beats per minute
escapement. The palet teeth are made of tungsten Carbide. The
clock
has ball races in most arbors. The escapement runs on PTFE plain
bearings. Gato won us a finalist place in a 2016 International
competition for
young watchmakers in Switzerland. Gato was exhibited at Samay Bharti
2018 in Mumbai. |

Lisko
is our first Wall Clock yet. Lisko is a pet project of ours that
has been in the pipeline for a long time. We launched it at our
exhibition in Samay Bharti 2018.
Lisko is the perfect apartment friendly wall clock. It is smaller &
thinner than other DS clocks. This size makes Lisko more practical.
There has been a lot of focus on legibility of the dial. The minimal
chapter ring is inspired by the ‘Bauhaus School’. The case is all wood.
One only sees time on Lisko and not much else. After all, a clock is
meant to show time. Albeit it is a really charming presenter of time.
Lisko has a weight driven mechanism. The clock is un-conventional for
the fact that the weight is suspended outside the case. The movement is
completely designed & produced in-house by Dilip
Sivaraman. The heart of the clock is an 80 beats per minute Dead-Beat
escapement. As with Gato the movement is mostly made of stainless
steel.

|
The pinions
have a minimum of 12 leaves making the clock rugged. The pendulum rod
is made of Invar. Lower part of the train have ball
races.
The case measures 92.4 x 27.6 x 12.5 Cm. The dial measures 23 Cm
across. Lisko would be offered with colour options for the dial and
different wood options for the case. |
